🇦🇼 Aruba Athletic Federation Establishes and Recognizes New Indoor National Records

March 3, 2026

The Aruba Athletic Federation proudly announces a historic milestone in the development of athletics in Aruba: the formal establishment and recognition of Aruban Indoor National Records 🇦🇼

A Necessary and Progressive Step Forward

Given Aruba’s tropical climate and the absence of indoor track and field facilities on the island, the Federation does not organize indoor competitions locally. Traditionally, only outdoor performances were officially recognized within our National Records framework.

However, with a steadily growing number of talented Aruban student-athletes competing internationally—particularly in the Netherlands and the United States—it has become increasingly important to acknowledge their indoor achievements performed under internationally regulated conditions.

In consultation with World Athletics, it has been agreed that when an indoor performance surpasses the existing Aruban outdoor national record, that mark may be officially recognized as an Aruban Indoor National Record.

These records will:

  • Be listed separately on the official National Records List

  • Be clearly identified as Indoor Records

  • Comply with World Athletics standards and competition regulations

  • Monitoring international performances

  • Maintaining accurate and transparent records

  • Supporting athlete development pathways

  • Promoting Aruban excellence worldwide

We congratulate Rebecca Jansen, Eljoenai Wehl and Wuill Vrolijk on their outstanding accomplishments and thank their coaches, institutions and support systems for contributing to their success.

The Aruba Athletic Federation remains steadfast in its mission to recognize and celebrate the dedication, discipline and determination of all Aruban athletes competing internationally.
