Today we reached Day 8, the final chapter of the World Athletics Level 1 Practical Coaching Course, a journey filled with learning, discipline, teamwork and passion for athletics.

The last day began with a focus on the pole vault, specifically the grip, carry position and the rockback stretch turn. Although we could not fully practice the event due to missing equipment at the stadium, the theoretical explanation and demonstrations provided participants with the foundational knowledge needed to safely coach this technical discipline in the future.

We then moved on to the hammer throw, where participants explored the essentials of the event, including:

• The momentum-building phase

• Correct foot placement

• The timing and control required for the turns

This session allowed everyone to understand how coordination, rhythm and balance come together to create a powerful and efficient throw.

At the end of today’s program, all 15 participants successfully completed their final practical requirements and are now officially recognized as World Athletics Level 1 Coaches, guided throughout the course by the exceptional leadership of Coach Roy Thomas from Jamaica, a certified World Athletics Lecturer and Trainer and Assistant Trainer Coach Peter Simon from Aruba. Their knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm were key to making this course such a success.

Adding a special touch to the celebration, both Coach Roy and Coach Peter will celebrate their birthdays on Monday the 17th, making the closing of Day 8 even more meaningful and joyful for the entire group.

Your dedication over these past days has been inspiring and this achievement marks a powerful step forward for athletics in Aruba. We now look forward to the official certificate presentation.
