Kids Athletics – Day 2 Focuses on Skills Development and Leadership Preparation

May 17, 2025

Workshop Recap & Getting Ready for Celebration Day

Day 2 of the Kids Athletics program brought together all facilitators and volunteers for an in-depth workshop in preparation for the upcoming Kids Athletics Celebration Day.

Led by facilitators Rudolph Simon and Roberto Chavarria, the session centered on understanding young athletes’ fundamental movement skills and developmental needs, particularly those at Level 1 and up. The group focused on recognizing, encouraging, and supporting children in a fun, safe, and inclusive way, empowering them to grow into confident individual performers and scorers.

The training included both theoretical and hands-on components. Participants reviewed key skills such as agility, balance, coordination, rhythm, bilateral movements, spatial awareness, and reaction-based movement. These were connected to real-world athletics examples like baton exchanges, jumping techniques, and sprint starts.

The atmosphere was one of active learning and teamwork. Coaches and team leaders worked in groups to plan activities, test drills, and prepare for a successful delivery of the Kids Celebration Day program.

With energy, purpose, and preparation in place, the team is now ready for Day 3, the big Celebration Day! The children will soon take the spotlight to enjoy, perform, and celebrate the joy of athletics.
